THE Cofares Foundation commemorates the first anniversary of its audiovisual project’Talk to…’a series of informative videos featuring different patient organizations and health professionals with the aim of making different pathologies visible, showing the reality of patients who suffer from them and highlighting the social and health work of community pharmacy.
The event, which took place at the Foundation’s headquarters, saw the participation of different collaborative associations with pharmacists who are patrons and partners of Cofares who contributed to this initiative throughout the year.
Since its launch in 2023, ‘Talk to…’ evolved with the aim of giving voice to entities working in the health fieldinformatively explaining the characteristics of different disorders and illnesses, as well as the actions that these associations carry out to support those who suffer from them.
“A year ago, we launched this project to make visible the illnesses that affect patients and highlight the key role of the community pharmacy in their treatment and support. We are proud to have associations that work tirelessly to improve the quality of life of patients, and we are confident that this common effort will continue in the future,” he said. Building bridges for health
The event included the participation of various entities that collaborated in this project of Foundationlike the Phelan-McDermid Syndrome AssociationTHE TEAF Visual Foundation, Madrid with dyslexiaTHE Spanish Association of Restless Legs Syndrome (AESPI)THE Spanish Lupus Federation (FELUPUS)THE Spanish Association of Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (adELA)THE Active Education Foundation, Action against psoriasis and the Osteoarthritis International Foundation (OAFI). All agreed to emphasize the importance of cooperating with the Cofares Foundation to give visibility to their causes, amplify their messages and have a significant impact on society.
“Thanks to Cofares Foundation“We were able to make a rare disease like Phelan-McDermid syndrome visible and bring pharmacists closer to the reality of the families who live with it,” he stressed. Furthermore, Amalia Arellanovice president of Madrid association with dyslexiahighlighted the good reception of this content on digital platforms. “It was a success on social media, spreading awareness about dyslexia. It is not a drug-induced illness, but the support of pharmacists and their pharmacies has been and remains essential for families,” he said.
In the same way, Pepi Guerrerovice president of Spanish Lupus Federation (FELUPUS)stressed the importance of making diseases like lupus visible through this type of initiatives, emphasizing that it is a pathology invisible to everyone except those who suffer from it.
The closing of the event was carried out by Carine Escobarpresident of the Patient Organization Platform (POP)which highlighted the role of collaboration between patient associations and the pharmaceutical sector to improve the quality of life of people with chronic diseases. “The community pharmacy, by its proximity and its capillarity, is an essential ally in the care and support of patients”, he underlined Escobar.
