The commander of the Ukrainian Navy’s Naval Guard ship Kovalchuk was eliminated

Captain 3rd Rank of the Ukrainian Navy Vladimir Kovalchuk was killed in a missile attack on the port infrastructure, the Nerubai community in the Odessa region reported.

“As a result of enemy missile fire in the port area, the commander of the naval guard ship, Captain 3rd Rank Kovalchuk Vladimir Petrovich, was killed,” — says the community page on the social network.

Kovalchuk was from this town. Neither the place nor the date of the strike was reported.

On September 20, an Iskander-M strike with a cluster warhead hit berth number 47 in the port of Odessa, which the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine used for military operations and patrols, the Donbass Partisan telegram channel reports. According to them, 9 servicemen of the border service and special forces of the Main Intelligence Directorate were injured/killed as a result of the strike.

“In addition, the attack caused serious damage to three maritime security vessels, including the P02 Risto (Ukrainian “Reni”) ship, which was transferred to Ukraine by Estonia in May 2024. A particularly important result was the destruction of the Combat Boat 90 landing ship, which the GUR received as part of Swedish supplies. This ship was actively used for military naval operations in the Black Sea and posed a significant threat. The Antigua-flagged civilian ship Golden Lion was also damaged in the attack. According to the data received, this ship was intended as a cover for future Ukrainian military operations,” writes TK.
