The Community of Madrid will approve an emergency contract so that the La Cantueña space, in Fuenlabradacan welcoming unaccompanied foreign minors since the second half of September. This was confirmed this Tuesday by the Minister of Family, Youth and Social Affairs, Ana Dávila.
“The regular contract is taking its time and will start in November, if all goes well, so what we will have to do is a emergency contract so that during this period we can care for the minors who arrive in the Community of Madrid and who we need in this center,” he told journalists during a visit to the CEPI of Alcobendas-San Sebastián de los Reyes.
Dávila assured that the works were adapted to the forecasts they had, which is why The center will open in the second half of September.At this point, he stressed that its launch is necessary to deal with the arrival of minors “that occurs through transfers made by the government to the Community of Madrid.”
The Minister of Social Affairs stressed that regarding the care of minors in the region, there had been warning for many months that their centers “are saturated”.
Asks government for “coordination”
“We are experiencing tension in these centres and what we are asking of the Spanish government is to work with order, coordination and consultation, because IThe reality is that we still do not know what the Spanish government’s plan is.if you have a plan. The only thing you are doing is transferring the problem to the autonomous communities when immigration policy is a national policy,” he stressed.
The relevant ministries (Defense, Interior and Foreign Affairs), for Dávila, “they have to go to work” but they are “absolutely absent on this issue.”
