The Congress removes from the Agenda of the Session the “apologies” for Francoism presented by Mariscal, Vox deputy of Toledo

The President of Congress, Francine Armengolordered this Thursday to delete from the session log the words he described as “apology of Francoism” delivered last Tuesday from his seat by Vox Deputy of Toledo Manuel Mariscalwhich defined the “post-Civil War” period as “a stage of reconstruction, progress and reconciliation to achieve national unity”.

Armengol warned that he would not tolerate praise of the Franco dictatorship or “hate speech” in the Congress of Deputiesannouncing that he will order the withdrawal of controversial statements by MP Toledanor, which also caused the Vox review of the PSOE of Castilla-La Manchaas reported by EL ESPAÑOL-EL DIGITAL CLM.

As we remember, Manuel Mariscal took advantage of his intervention in the debate preceding the vote for the new president of Radio Televisión Española, Jose Pablo Lopezto assert that Franco’s regime “was not a dark period”as in his opinion the government of Pedro Sanchezbut a “stage of reconstruction, progress and reconciliation to achieve national unity”, “truths” that many young people are now “discovering” thanks to social networks”.

Unacceptable

Faced with these statements and the subsequent applause of some Vox deputies, the President of Congress declared that Mariscal’s comments “are not acceptable” and that is why he ordered his withdrawalwhile apologizing to the House for not being able to hear this speech live and see it later.

Francina Armengol’s decision will not actually mean the elimination of Mariscal’s comments, but rather, as Europa Press explains, will be placed in parentheses in the Session Log with a callout explaining that they have been censored by the presidency of Congress.

Armengol announced his decision after the debate on a Vox proposal to repeal the law on democratic memory. “I warn all MPs that They cannot defend Francoism, which was a dictatorship that sowed terror, murder and hatred in our country. and that this house is precisely there to guarantee democracy and the rights of all,” explained the President of the Lower House.

Vox does not enter into controversy

As reported by EL ESPAÑOL-EL DIGITAL CLM, Mariscal’s intervention in Congress generated certain discomfort among certain representatives of Vox in Castilla-La Manchawho avoided controversy and did not evaluate the words of the deputy from Toledo.

This is the case of the president of the Vox parliamentary group in the Cortes of Castile-La Mancha, David Morenoand the vice-president of the Provincial Delegation of Toledo, Daniel Ariaswho did not enter into this controversy.

David Moreno himself, avoiding qualifying the Franco regime, expressed the need to “leave history to the historians” and he said that the real problem is the legacy that the PSOE leaves: “A real corruption, a criminal footprint and climate fanaticism,” as he put it.

Other reactions

As we know, Mariscal’s intervention provoked an immediate reaction from the PSOE. He is also deputy of Toledo and secretary of the Socialist Organization of Castile-La Mancha, Sergio Gutiérrezpublished a message on the networks accusing Mariscal of having done “apologies for the Franco dictatorship.”

Likewise, the Castile-La Mancha PSOE focused its criticism on the regional PP and the party’s government agreements with Vox. “If the popular president of the community, Paco Núñez, had the slightest democratic culture will demand that VOX CLM condemn these comments and otherwise, it will break its agreements“, they expressed.

Paco Núñez, for his part, declared that he was born in 1982 and that he did not feel “at all identified with the Franco regime.”while he defines himself as “a convinced democrat”.
