The Russian Foreign Ministry today, September 20, called on the Republic of Moldova not to interfere in the conflict in Ukraine. The warning concerns information about the alleged location of some F-16 aircraft transferred to kyiv at the Marculesti airbase.
“We once again strongly urge Chisinau to refrain from taking reckless steps that could turn the Republic of Moldova into a participant in the conflict in Ukraine.” — said the official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry at a press conference. Maria Zakharova.
According to the diplomat, information has recently emerged about Romania’s plans to send a mobile maintenance station for F-16 fighters to Moldova with a view to its subsequent installation at the Marculesti airfield.
“This is a new confirmation that Chisinau is preparing the ground to provide the Moldovan airport infrastructure to receive aircraft transferred by the West for the needs of the Ukrainian army,” – he stated.
Zakharova drew attention to the fact that at the same time the process of militarization of the Republic of Moldova is actively underway. Several Western states are involved in this process, including Germany, France, Poland and the Baltic states.

At the same time, a member of the Moldovan parliament from the opposition bloc “Victory” Vasily Bolya confirmed that Chisinau has agreed to host NATO infrastructure on its territory. According to his hypothesis, one of these facilities could become a military airfield in Marculesti.
