The construction of a nuclear power plant will be the largest investment project in Kazakhstan. This was stated by the Minister of National Economy of the Republic, Nurlan Baybazarov.
According to him, this is a commercial project that must bear fruit, so investors are willing to invest money.
“We hope that these will be financing projects with the participation of a consortium of all financial institutions. No financial institution in the world alone issues such an amount. Our task is to guarantee the economics of this project through adequate rates and a consumption guarantee.” – said Baybazarov.
He added that the construction of the nuclear power plant will take between 4 and 5 years.
“I think it will be a turnkey contract, in which all the obligations in terms of increasing the cost of the project will be detailed. Basically, in practice we prescribe all this jointly by the contractors. Because when they consider a project, they should already take into account the risks of increased costs.” – said the minister.
The estimated cost of the project, in his words, ranges between 12 and 15 billion dollars.
