The Conxemar Fair celebrates its 25th anniversary focused on sustainability and the future of the sector

This week, Vigo becomes a meeting point for the links of maritime economic activity with the start of the International Frozen Seafood Fair in its 25th three-day edition, from October 1 to 3in which more than 760 exhibitors – 13.3% more than last year – and workspaces will allow the exchange of ideas and debate on the future of the sector with sustainability as its backbone, reflected in its currency : “Responsibility for the future‘.

“The Fair, which is reaching its quarter century, is configured as international reference of a sector which, in Spain alone, integrates 803 companies, generates a total turnover of 18,155.1 million euros and creates 34,844 direct jobs”, affirms the organization in a press release. According to the data from ConxémarIn 2023, a total of 26,736 people from 110 countries visited the show, with Portugal, Italy and France leading the ranking.

The more than 37,000 square meters available at the Vigo Fair Institute (Ifevi) will bring together the entire sector in transformation: wholesalers, importers, exporters, processors, manufacturers, distributors, refrigerators, machines, auxiliary industry (cold, packaging, plastic, etc.). Additionally, in this edition they will participate in the show representatives from 46 countries of which 36 will have an exhibitor. The presence of countries like the Dominican Republic, South Africa, Mexico, Indonesia, Namibia, Poland and Slovenia will be new.

The official opening of the Show is scheduled for this Tuesday at 12:00 p.m., once the traditional visit to the exhibitors’ stands has ended. The event will bring together, among others, the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food, Luis Planas.

News from the 2024 edition

The organization emphasizes that on the occasion of the 25th anniversary, it will set up rest and work areas throughout the exhibition center for the greater comfort of participants and, “after the success of last year”, it will maintain the exhibition space of news and flagship products. Conxemar-FAO Congress

The opening of this key week for the sector in Vigo began this Monday with the event preceding the event: the Conxemar-FAO Congress, which celebrates its 12th edition. He analyzed in detail the State of the World Fisheries and Aquaculture Report (SOFIA2024).
