Oku.AzAccording to Lenta.ru, the head of the Laboratory of Special Dangerous Infections at the Federal Research Center for Fundamental and Translational Medicine of Russia, Professor of Virology Alexander Chepurnov said this.
“If we take into account the disease that most of the population suffers from (primary variant, delta, first Omicron variants), so many mutations have occurred in the last two years that the antigenic portrait of the virus is significantly different from the previous one. “The new variants, as well as prior vaccination or have the ability to avoid the immunity acquired by carrying the disease,” said the virologist.
According to him, the main change that has occurred during this period is the shift of the coronavirus in a less pathogenic direction.
“We will probably move towards a flu-like situation or learn to rapidly develop new vaccine variants,” the professor concluded.
