The Ministry of Culture and Sports of Junta of Andalusia This Friday, it published the call for tenders for the award of the rehabilitation works of the Arab Baths of San Pedro, with a budget of 1,650,032 euros and an execution time of 13 months. The action is co-financed with the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF).

The actions consist of the consolidation, enhancement and adaptation for the opening to the public of this space, currently closed to the public, a heritage enclave close to the church of the same name, with which it maintains a historical relationship.

At number 12, and on the same street level, are the remains of the original old bathroom. almoravid. The area numbers 8 and 10, resulting from the demolition of a house with a courtyard of little value, partly retains sanitary infrastructure, and partly remains of ancient Islamic and modern houses.

The baths are organized according to the traditional typology of Arab baths: entrance hall with patio and changing rooms, which no longer exist, cold, warm and hot rooms, and boiler room. In addition, two cisternsthe drainage network and a water wheel and a well for water supply.
