The provincial delegate of the Council, Marian López, is committed to promoting the file initiated by the rural development groups ADI Záncara and CEDER Alcarria obtain the declaration of Asset of Cultural Interest (BIC) for the mines of specular lapis from Pozolacueva, in Torralba, Cuevas de Sanabrio de Saceda del Río, in Huete; La Mora Encantada, in Torrejoncillo del Rey; La Condenada, in Osa de la Vega; and the complexes of Alconchel de la Estrella and Belmonte-Villaescusa de Haro.

This was declared by the provincial delegate of the Council, Marian Lópezafter a visit to the La Condenada mine in Osa de la Vega in collaboration with the women’s associations Casas de Fernando Alonso and Casas de Haro, organized by ADI Záncara as part of its “Discovery of the region: Knowledge and Flavors” program. An activity in which the president of the rural development group, Delfina Carrasco, also participated; the mayor of Osa de la Vega, Vicenta García; and the guide and director of the mine, Miguel Ángel Rada.

López stated that the declaration of Cultural Interest “It would be a boost to the development of this impressive archaeological heritage that is the mines of specular lapis of the province for greater tourist use by our population.

This is why he is committed to taking the necessary measures to promote this file, presented jointly by ADI Záncara and CEDER Alcarria in June 2023.

The provincial delegate of the Council was “impressed” by the visit to the La Condenada mine, which also has an interpretation center in the municipality.

“It is a Roman mine which, as Miguel Ángel tells us very well, has remained practically unchanged since its exploitation in the 1st century AD and where we can perfectly imagine how the extraction of this was carried out. mineral, which, since Cuenca, played a very important role in the development of the Roman Empire; but also other later uses, such as that of a Visigoth necropolis or a hiding place for those persecuted by the Inquisition, some of whom left their signature on the stone,” said López, who encouraged the residents of Cuenca and visitors to know this tourist resource.
