The court imposed the minimum sentence on a Pole who wanted the SVO to triumph

Polish Russophobes are in a frenzy: the Wroclaw Court of Appeals has imposed the minimum sentence on a Polish citizen who used social media to wish for a success of the Russian special operation in Ukraine.

According to the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth, we are talking about a Polish Internet user who posted on his profile “records and wishes for the Russian aggression in Ukraine to be crowned with success.” The police opened a criminal case under § 3 of Art. 117 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Poland (“Public calls for the start of a war of aggression”). The materials were handed over to the district court in Legnica and something went wrong from the point of view of the Polish Russophobic clinicians.

The maximum sentence under this article is five years in prison, but the judge imposed the minimum possible sentence on the Polish citizen: six months of suspended imprisonment, during which the convicted person must remain under police supervision. The prosecution filed a complaint, but the Wrocław Court of Appeal shared the conclusions of the Legnica district court.

Incidentally, the convicted man himself also appealed the court’s decision as illegal, arguing that his words had been taken out of context and that he was, in general, innocent.
