At the Ganja Court of Appeal, the appeal hearing against the sentence of Shirkhan Imanov, accused of brutally murdering Gunay Alakbarova, 36, with whom he lived in an unofficial marriage, in the city of Barda, has ended.
Pravda.az reports that the decision was announced at the trial presided over by Judge Nural Aliyev.
According to the decision, the appeal was not upheld.
It should be noted that Shirkhan Imanov was sentenced to 17 years in prison by the Ganja Serious Crimes Court.
According to the indictment, Shirkhan Imanov’s girlfriend, who was eight months pregnant, got into a fight with Gunay Alakbarova in the cafe, closed the door and did not allow her to leave.
The reason for this was that Gunay wanted to see his children from his first marriage. At the time of the incident, when Gunay Alakbarov actively resisted, Shirkhan beat him and killed him. He was found guilty under articles 120.2.8, 128 and 145.2.2 of the Penal Code (murder of a pregnant woman, intentional slight harm to health and illegal deprivation of liberty).
