The resolutions adopted by the institution are subject to contentious-administrative appeal before the Supreme Court.
The Plenary Assembly of the Court of Auditors imposed two fines for a total of almost 250,000 euros to Bildu for violations “very serious” by exceeding the spending ceilings during the elections to the Provincial Councils of May 2023.
Concretely, the control institution concludes that Bildu did not comply with article 17. Two b) of the organic law on the financing of political parties by exceed the electoral spending limit established in article 193.2 of the LOREG, as well as the ceiling for advertising expenses in the press and on the radio established in article 58.1 of the LOREG.
In both cases, the excessive spending took place during the elections to the General Assemblies of the Historic Territories of the Basque Country held on May 28, 2023.
The first file was settled with a fine of 219,890.95 euros and the second for an additional 25,501.87 euros, which gives a total of 245,392.82 euros, once applied the 20% reduction which implies the renunciation of the appeal.
