Neither Paz Jiménez nor José María Orús obtained enough support to force a vote and squeeze in among the Aragonese who will represent the territory at the meeting in which Pedro Sánchez will be re-elected secretary general of the party.

In Zaragoza, they should have received 518 supporters. Thus, the only list that will advance is that of the secretary general of the PSOE of Zaragoza, Juan Antonio Sánchez Quero. The socialist leader has already announced that he will demand in Seville “fair and equal” funding to avoid “discriminating against certain communities compared to others”.

With his alternative candidacy, he was looking for find the voice of activism and once again enthuse the party to recover the government of Aragon and continue into Moncloa. Getting the 518 wasn’t a guarantee either, because if they had done so, both lists would have had to be put to the vote. “The list having obtained the most votes will be allocated half plus one of the delegates and the remaining 14 will be distributed proportionally to the number of votes among those who have reached 20%,” explained Sánchez Quero at the time.

Despite the result, Jiménez assured that he was available to speak with Sánchez Quero and present his proposals to make “a bigger party.”
