The crossing of Kamala Harris and Donald Trump in key states for the last weekend of the campaign

The last weekend of a long campaign for Donald Trump and Kamala Harris

Key states, crucial states, swing states… whatever their name, Kamala Harris and Donald Trump have been touring them for several weeks, and will continue to do so during this final weekend of the campaign. For the fourth consecutive day they will meet again, on Saturday, November 2, in the same territory, North Carolina.

Three days before the elections, more than 70 million people have already voted early, the polls still cannot decide between the two candidates and, as pointed out Washington Post, “Many of our fellow citizens are gripped by fear and concern about the outcome of what they consider to be the most important and exhausting presidential election in recent times.”

Democrats want to mobilize in big cities. Kamala Harris will participate in two meetings, the first in Atlanta, Georgia, and the second in Charlotte, North Carolina. The 60-year-old vice president will visit celebrities again, as in most of her meetings, this time with director Spike Lee and concerts by rapper 2 Chainz and Jon Bon Jovi. Former first lady Michelle Obama will campaign for her in Philadelphia, along with singer Alicia Keys.

These two states have 16 electors each. If the Democratic candidate is not the favorite, Donald Trump’s advantage in the polls is there, as in the others undecided statesminimum. Early voting was very popular in these two states: more than 4 million people used it as of Friday in Georgia, and almost half of the 7.8 million voters registered on the rolls in North Carolina did the same. Democratic strategists are counting on strong mobilization on November 5 in the main cities to hope to achieve victory until the end.

Donald Trump will no longer leave North Carolina. The Republican candidate will be a few kilometers from his rival on Saturday in the city of Gastonia, before stopping in Salem (Virginia) and ending the day in Greensboro, also in North Carolina. Trump will no longer leave this state, with daily meetings until November 5.

The Republican General Staff knows that a final victory requires a victory, first in North Carolina, alone. oscillation state that Trump won in 2016 and 2020 (that year by just 1.3 points).

To some local Democratic elected officials, this seems like a desperate gesture. “These repeated appearances may be a sign that the Trump campaign is in trouble”says Marcia Morey, elected official of Durham County, quoted by the Associated Press.
