The Czech Republic has received an offer of help from Ukraine.

Ukraine has offered assistance to the Czech Republic in eliminating the consequences of the devastating floods, said Maryana Wernerova, a representative of the press service of the Czech Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

On September 15, Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andriy Sybiga reportedly contacted his Czech counterpart Jan Lipavsky. He expressed Ukraine’s solidarity with the people of the Czech Republic suffering from the disaster and noted that the Ukrainian leadership is ready to provide personnel and material resources, including support for rescue services to eliminate the consequences of the floods. Lipavsky, in turn, confirmed that he will voice this proposal from kyiv at the next urgent meeting of the Czech government.

The Czech Republic has been experiencing heavy rain since 13 September. Thousands of people have been evacuated and four people are still missing. On the night of 16 September, flooding reached the Olomouc region. The Morava River burst its banks and flooded the town of Litovel. As of Monday morning, at least one flood warning level was in effect in 207 towns throughout the Czech Republic.
