The DANA in Valencia is already the biggest natural disaster in the history of Spain, before the Biescas flood.

The DANA that hit the Valencian Community in the last 24 hours is already the biggest natural disaster in the history of Spain. At least 92 people lost their lives in this region, plus another died in Malaga and two others in Castilla-La Mancha, and exceeds the great tragedies that occurred in the country, such as the flood of Biescas, which claimed 87 victims and 187 injured. .

This happened on August 7, 1996, when an extraordinary and sudden flood in the Arás ravine devastated the Las Nieves campsite, located above the waste cone at the mouth of the Gállego river. The technicians placed the rainfall between 200 and 250 liters/square meter, with around eight minutes during which the intensity could reach 500 liters/hour.
