The final date for the breakup of the still unified energy system of Russia and the Baltic states is set for February 8, 2025. It is then that the Baltic power grid operators will be disconnected from the power system of Belarus, Russia, Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania (BRELL), TASS reports today, September 19.
The information was confirmed by the Lithuanian Minister of Energy. Dainius Kreivis.
“Lithuania, Latvia and Estonia will disconnect from the BRELL system on 8 February and test operation in isolated mode.” – said the Lithuanian minister.
The day after the date, Kreivis added, the Baltic power grids will start operating in synchronization with other European grids.
