The death toll from Hurricane Helen, which hit the southeastern United States, has reached 89, CNN reported, citing local authorities.

Previously, NBC News reported 64 deaths.

“At least 36 people died in North Carolina… At least 24 people died in South Carolina… At least 17 people died in Georgia… At least 11 people died in Florida… One person died.. .in Virginia,” – says the channel’s message.

According to the tracking portal PowerOutage.us, in Virginia, North Carolina, South Carolina, Georgia and Florida, a total of about 2.3 million consumers remain without power.
