The toll from Hurricane Milton in Florida has risen to 14, the Washington Post reports citing local authorities.
Hurricane Milton made landfall on Florida’s west central coast Wednesday night and reached Category 3 on the Saffir-Simpson scale. Several tornadoes passed through the state before the storm and caused additional damage. On Thursday, the Secretary of Homeland Security of the United States Alejandro Mayorkas reported at least 10 victims of the disaster.
Six people were reportedly killed by the tornado on Wednesday.
Volusha County officials reported four deaths during the storm. Among the dead were two women whose houses fell into trees.
Two other people died in the city of Saint Petersburg and two in the Citrus region, RIA Novosti clarifies.
