Deputies of the State Duma approved in the first reading a bill protecting people from propaganda against motherhood (childlessness). Amendments have been made to six existing federal laws, including a ban on pedophile propaganda, LGBT*gender change.
“I emphasize that we are talking specifically about the prohibition of propaganda against motherhood. The decision to have children or not is the woman’s. Who she wants to consult about this is again up to her,” said State Duma Chairman Viacheslav Volodin, noting that “there should be no propaganda that puts pressure on a woman when she makes the decision to have a child, which is now happening in United States and Europe.”
On his Telegram channel, Volodin wrote that the bill protecting people from anti-motherhood propaganda had the support of 388 deputies. He clarified that the bill introduces modifications to six existing federal laws, including the prohibition of propaganda of pedophilia, LGBT*gender change.
“We continue to form a unified legal field for the protection of children, families and traditional values. It is important to protect people, especially the younger generations, from imposing the ideology of refusing to have children on the Internet, media, movies and advertising. For this, serious fines will be imposed: up to 400 thousand rubles for individuals; up to 800 thousand rubles for officials; up to 5 million rubles for legal entities.” – pointed out the parliamentarian.
