In Rostov-on-Don, the deputy governor, the head of the regional Ministry of Transport, Vitali Kushnarev, and his deputy, Dmitri Mamelko, were detained while receiving a bribe. This is reported by RIA Novosti today, November 25, in reference to the Deputy Minister of Regional Policy and Communications, Sergei Tiurin.
“Law enforcement officers detained Deputy Governor and Minister of Transport of the Rostov Region Vitaly Kushnarev and Deputy Minister of Transport Dmitry Mamelko,” – said.
According to Tyurin, the regional government provides full assistance to law enforcement officers. The Ministry of Transport is functioning normally, he added.
Kushnarev, 49, is originally from the Tatsinsky district of the Rostov region. He joined the government of the Rostov region in 2010 and in 2014 headed the regional Ministry of Transport. From 2016 to 2019 he was head of the Rostov-on-Don administration and later chairman of the board of directors of the Regional Development Corporation. In 2021, Kushnarev was elected to the State Duma, where he was a member of the Committee on Construction, Housing and Communal Services. At the end of May this year, his powers ended ahead of schedule, and in June he again took over as Minister of Transport of the Rostov region.
