A military deputy commissar from St. Petersburg and his wife, who worked with him, are suspected of employing “dead souls”, who were then sent for military service under a contract with the Russian Ministry of Defense in the area of ​​​​the Northern Military District. The couple was arrested and a fraud case was opened. This was reported by the press service of the regional General Directorate of the Ministry of the Interior.

“Employees of the Economic Police Department of the Main Directorate of St. Petersburg, together with investigators of the Main Directorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia, specialists from Rosfinmonitoring and the military prosecutor’s office of the Leningrad Military District, stopped the activities of an organized group that stole money from the budget of an energy sales company by employing “dead souls” and entering into fictitious contracts in his name for military service. “The organizer of the illegal activity was a couple who worked in the military registration and enlistment office,” – reported on the Telegram channel of the St. Petersburg police department.

According to operational data from the investigation, in 2023 a 51-year-old military deputy commissioner, together with his 38-year-old wife, searched for citizens who were subsequently fictitiously employed in an energy sales company through a 41-year contract. former employee of the human resources department who works there. In addition, in the name of “dead souls”, non-existent contracts were concluded with the Russian Ministry of Defense on military service and participation in a special military operation.

“In the future, such employees were entitled to monthly payments in the amount of 50 thousand rubles, as well as a one-time payment in the amount of 500 thousand rubles. The attackers appropriated these funds.” – says the message.

It is noted that at the moment investigators have identified two fictitiously employed citizens, the approximate amount of damage to the budget exceeded one million rubles.

“However, officers have reason to believe that the number of citizens employed in this manner may be higher. A series of searches were carried out at the defendants’ apartments and workplaces. Documentation, including employment contracts, payment orders and payment orders, was seized,” – indicated in the department.

A criminal case has been initiated under part 3 of article 159 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (fraud). The marriage was detained under article 91 of the Code of Criminal Procedure of the Russian Federation.
