THE solidarity In the world of bullfighting it is an intrinsic value, as demonstrated by Cariñena, as well as Jesús Arruga and the rest of the professionals who joined the charitable cause for the benefit of Valencia. After the DANA tragedy, every weekend, in many regions of Spain, different solidarity bullfights take place for the benefit of the victims, as is the case in Aragon.
Last Sunday, in the city of Zaragoza Carignanthere was a charity party in which different Valencian and Aragonese professionals participated altruistically to raise funds for the purchase of household appliances for families who need them most. Specifically for cities of Sedavi and Catarrojathe two destinations that were chosen to send the twenty washing machines that they managed to buy with the money raised.
Arruga and the Cariñena festival
OKDIARIO He spoke with the banderillero and compatriot of Cariñena, Jesus ridesone of the alma maters of this initiative, promoted through his company Arruga y Tacheli, an agency dedicated to the organization of popular festivals.
Arruga shared for OKDIARIO the history of this initiative and its leitmotif: the strong bond between bullfighting professionals from Aragon and Valencia.
“The world of popular festivals is very united. We knew many colleagues from the popular party who had directly suffered the ravages of DANA in Sedaví and Catarroja. And we got to work trying to help with what we know how to do better“, he explains.
“We organized a party in Cariñena attended by Valencians and Aragonese. It was a success. Our desire is to help to families directly without intermediaries. We don’t want money to be lost in an association. With the money raised, we buy the household appliances ourselves and ensure that they reach the families who need them,” he explains.
How to identify needs? “On this occasion, it was the inhabitants of Sedaví and Catarroja themselves who choose between them to families who need it most.
20 washing machines for Catarroja and Sedaví
The delivery of twenty washing machines It will take place next Wednesday. “We bought the washing machines in a store in Cariñena. Because we want to promote local economy. The company is also heavily involved in the solidarity initiative. At the beginning, the budget we had was enough for 17 devices,” he explains. “However, Simón, the owner, let us have them at cost, including shipping and installation, and we were able to purchase three more.”
As Arruga explains, “the celebration of the popular festival brought together about a thousand peopleincluding 700 outside Cariñena. Through this, the local economy is also generated. This is something we want to emphasize. “Initiatives like this promote roots in the territory, strengthen links between regions and encourage growing solidarity between us.”
Entrance to the celebration consisted of a donation of five euros and 100% of the profits went to the people affected by DANA. Up to five establishments were involved in selling tickets where they could be purchased, including municipal offices, stores and bars in the city.
The celebration consisted of a charity bullfighting exhibitioncomposed of rings, breaks, jumps and threads. In addition to a heifer outing intended for the public which took place at the end of the show. All participants acted altruistically, including the Toropasión company and the farms of Bravo Murillo Conde and Javier Soria.
As they say, in addition to professionals from Cariñena, Alagón and other parts of the community, five pruners from Catarroja also joined, one of the municipalities most affected by the terrible DANA.
“We would like to thank once again all the breeders, participants of all types and the Casta Aragonesa group, for making this celebration possible and for their selfless dedication,” says Arruga. “Our most sincere support to Valencia, lots of strength, we are with you!», he expresses.
