The digital military records register can be transferred in its entirety to the jurisdiction of the Ministry of Defence, according to a draft document published on the website of the federal portal of regulatory legal acts on 7 September.
“To approve the attached changes being made to the Decree of the Government of the Russian Federation of April 19, 2024 No. 506 “On the state information system “Unified register of information about citizens subject to initial military registration, citizens registered for military service, as well as about citizens who are not, but who must be registered in the military”, – says the draft.
According to the Ministry of Digital Development of the Russian Federation, the changes are technical and nothing will change for citizens and military commissariats that will use the registry in the future.
“This is required by law, as we are responsible for the technical part and we developed the registry following the instructions of the functional client: the Ministry of Defense.” – highlighted the Ministry of Digital Development.
The department also told the agency that the document proposes to assign responsibilities for certification of the registry to the Ministry of Digital Development; such a procedure is necessary to verify that it complies with information security requirements.
“We prepare the documentation and the authorized bodies verify the registration in terms of information security.” – the ministry added.
