DANA left a great devastation in its wakecausing major damage and flooding. The search for the missing continues after a terrible storm which has already killed 95 people.
One of the worst affected areas has been Valencia, where firefighters and emergency services are working to rescue people who they were trapped because of heavy rains. The Alicante Provincial Firefighters Consortium, which traveled to the affected areas to help with search and rescue efforts, shared a video in which it shows the harrowing rescue by helicopter of a one-year-old baby.
The baby and his mother were in an isolated house in the Valencian municipality of Riola, in Ribera Baixa. Firefighters managed to get them out of their house by helicopter to safety.
In total, Consortium troops saved 20 people who were in danger or isolatedafter carrying out four reconnaissance flights in the Albufera region and in municipalities such as Paiporta or Torrent, the Consortium reported in a press release.
These rescues are in addition to other actions of the Alicante troops in the areas affected by the rain and wind storm in the province of Valencia, where they have been since this Wednesday morning to strengthen relief efforts.
The Government has decreed three days of official mourning and will approve the disaster area. Consumer Affairs asks companies to speed up procedures for people affected by DANA and to provide them with facilities.
