The name defends its approach because “the struggle” of these organisms involves “the search for the origin of things”.
Yesterday, the Bierzo Designation of Origin formalized the presentation of an appeal against the authorization by the Agrarian Technological Institute of Castilla y León of the use of the Godello grape in the Rueda Designation of Origin as a secondary variety.
This was confirmed to Ical by the president of the entity, Adelino Pérez, responsible for presenting this initiative which, according to him, is based, among other things, on the fact that “the fight” of these organizations involves “the search for origin of things.” DO Bierzo plans, he commented, to make public the content of his arguments, as they are presented in the text written by his legal representatives.
The Commission’s decision was defended a few days ago by the Minister of Agriculture, Livestock and Rural Development, María González Corral, who emphasized that the Godello grape variety “does not belong to anyone, it belongs to everyone”, against the accusation of “theft”. led by the Leonese Popular Union (UPL).
The authorization has also been criticized by the agrarian and economic organizations of the Bercian region and the province of León and by institutions such as the Provincial Council and the Regional Council, while in Rueda they defend its use.
