The Duque de Rivas school will provide courses in gardening, electricity and hospitality, among others

There are not enough students, but there are needs. The Duque de Rivas school, in the district of Palm treesclosed for months, is used again for training thanks to a program from Cordoba Town Hallwhich will serve as a socio-professional integration center.

The mayor of Cordoba confirmed this Monday, Jose Maria Bellidowho emphasized that the training will be provided by non-profit entities who will offer programs which will then be equipped with cycles of vocational training.

The work begins this Monday with the approval within the Local Government Council of a call for grantson a competitive basis, so that NGOs offer training programs in the eight modules established by the Town Hall.

The allocation will be 437.9970 euros, and the entities will offer training in Gardening, Warehouse, Service HospitalityHospitality and Catering, Care for People in Dependency Situations, Aesthetics and Electricity.

They will benefit in total 220 people for a program that will offer 19 routes distributed in each of the areas, because students will be able to choose one specialty or another. There is already training in traditional professions, such as CarpentryMasonry and Plumbing, which has already started and is taught by the Red21 organization.

In December

It is planned, according to the Councilor Delegate for Social Affairs of the City of Cordoba, Eva Contador, to start in December after the contracts in each of the corresponding areas.

Eva Contador explained that the idea is that these are not very long modules, because they are mainly aimed at adultswho may have lost the habit of studying and have learning difficulties. At the end, they will obtain a diploma comparable to a professional training cycle.

The mayor welcomed not only the content of the program itself, but also because it involves putting the Duque de Rivas school back into service, after the Andalusian government decommissioned it. This also means working in a neighborhood, the Las Palmeras neighborhood, heavily punished by the unemployment and social vulnerability.

The program of these routes subsidized by the Cordoba City Council will continue until September 30, 2025, and there, insisted Bellido and Contador, a new programming to continue work at the former Duque de Rivas school.
