The Ebeko volcano in the Kurils spewed ash to a height of 2.5 km

Volcanologists recorded an emission of ash 2.5 kilometers high on the Ebeko volcano. This was reported by the Russian Ministry of Emergency Situations for the Sakhalin region on October 31.

“At the Ebeko volcano, ash erupted at a height of up to 2.5 km above sea level. The plume extended eastwards for a distance of more than 5 km.” — reported the department’s press service on the Telegram channel.

It is clarified that in the city of Severo-Kurilsk no ash fall or smell of hydrogen sulfide was observed. There were no calls or complaints from the population.

The regional Ministry of Emergency Situations added that there are no air routes in the volcano area and there are no registered tourist groups in the vicinity of Ebeko.
