Volcanologists recorded an emission of ash at a height of 2 km from the Ebeko volcano, in the north of Paramushir island, in the Great Kuril mountain range. This was reported on November 6 by the press service of the General Directorate of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Russia for the Sakhalin region.
“An emission of ash occurred at a height of 2 km above sea level. The plume extended in a southwesterly direction for a distance of more than 5 km.” — the department said in a message on its Telegram channel.
It should be noted that no ash fall or smell of hydrogen sulfide was observed in the city of Severo-Kurilsk. There were no calls or complaints from the population.
The regional Ministry of Emergency Situations added that there are no air routes in the volcano area and there are no registered tourist groups in the vicinity of Ebeko.
