You’re driving on a busy road and suddenly your car starts to lose power and then shuts down completely. A situation like this can take even an experienced driver by surprise. But what is the reason for such an unpleasant “surprise”?
Oku.AzAs reported by Gazeta.ru, Russian automobile expert Igor Boyarski spoke about the reasons for the sudden engine shutdown.
According to him, the first reason is hidden in the fuel system. A clogged or damaged fuel filter restricts fuel injection, causing the engine to stall.
“The second possible failure is that it may stop working due to ignition problems. This is usually due to faulty spark plugs, a cracked ignition module or a faulty coil,” he added.
Igor Boyarsky pointed out that the engine management system is another potential source of problems.
“Inaccurate readings from mass air consumption and throttle position sensors lead to engine malfunctions and stalling.”
The expert highlighted that, finally, engine overheating due to a malfunctioning thermostat or a coolant leak can also cause the car to suddenly “sleep.”
