The European Union (EU) summit announced that Georgia’s accession process to the European Union was effectively blocked and accused the country of violating European values.
Oku.Az TASS reports that this was reported in the final declaration of the summit.
“The European Union expresses its serious concern about the course of the Georgian government, which contradicts the values and principles established by the EU. This course undermines Georgia’s European path and, in fact, stops the EU accession process,” it says the statement.
At the same time, the summit declared its readiness to support the Georgian people on their path to Europe, clearly pitting the people against the government.
Furthermore, Brussels has warned that the upcoming parliamentary elections in the republic, which should be free and fair, will be closely followed with the participation of foreign observers and the full support of free media.
To return to the EU, Brussels demanded that Georgia carry out democratic, comprehensive and sustainable reforms in accordance with the principles of European integration.
