The European Court annuls the fine imposed by the European Commission on Google

The American corporation Google, it seems, will not have to pay Brussels a fine of 1.5 billion euros. The decision to lift the sanctions of the European Commission was made by the EU Court, as reported by RIA Novosti today, September 18.

The decision is given in the official statement of the court of general jurisdiction. Google was fined as a result “abuse of dominant position in the online advertising market”.

“The court confirms most of the European Commission’s assessments, but annuls the decision according to which the EC fined Google 1.5 billion euros.” – says the official court document.

The judge ruled that the European Commission had not taken all the circumstances into account; for example, the periods of validity of the provisions of several contracts had not been taken into account. This decision applies to the court of first instance, i.e. it can still be appealed.
