Western pressures against Azerbaijan have intensified. This is felt more clearly in recent days. One of the main manifestations of pressure against official Baku was the hearing held on October 22 in the European Parliament on the situation in Azerbaijan, as well as relations with Armenia. The hearings went as expected. Thus, some European politicians once again made partial statements against Azerbaijan.
From this point of view, it is worth highlighting the opinions expressed by Nicholas Schmitt, Vice President of the European Commission for Labor and Social Affairs. Thus, he stated that some Azerbaijani citizens were criminally responsible for their political beliefs or opinions, or that criminal cases involving people presenting themselves as journalists or human rights defenders were politically motivated.
The point is that such absurd statements have been made so far in some of the hearings held in the European Parliament. Official resolutions were even adopted against Baku. But the development of the processes showed that they were nothing more than a piece of paper. It happens to European politicians themselves. They fall into the image of “false shepherds,” so to speak.
The Baku official expressed a specific attitude towards this decision of the European Parliament. Thus, the press secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Azerbaijan, Aykhan Hajizade, spoke a few days ago about the statements of the European Parliament. He noted that the Baku official categorically rejects the unacceptable, unfounded and completely biased statement by Nicholas Schmitt against Azerbaijan: “This statement by the Commissioner prepared by the European External Action Service (ESFA) is completely far from reality and is another failed attempt to interfere In the internal affairs of Azerbaijan, such a harmful approach of the European Parliament has long proven to be ineffective and has not brought any results, and only complicates relations between Azerbaijan and Europe.
The pressures against Azerbaijan are not accidental. Thus, in a few days, Baku will host an event of international importance: the 29th session of the Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP29). Especially Western circles cannot digest Azerbaijan’s successes and are sorry.
The intensification of pressures is directly calculated to overshadow Azerbaijan’s success.
In fact, there have been similar attempts before. Thus, Western countries tried to “muddy the waters” on the eve of important events such as the IV Islamic Solidarity Games and the I European Games held in Baku. In this sense, provocative measures were expected from the West.
In fact, the European Union (EU) has no right to speak about the situation in Azerbaijan. If this organization and the European Parliament are truly objective, why did they not react to Armenia’s 30-year occupation policy? Furthermore, why have issues such as human rights violations and police violence never been raised in some EU countries? For example, why hasn’t the European Parliament told France, which has not renounced its colonial policy, that “there is an eyebrow above the eye”?
The European Parliament has no moral right to speak about the situation in Azerbaijan, as well as the relations between Baku and Yerevan, in a context of complete disregard for events such as the bloody protests in New Caledonia and other overseas territories.
The points listed and the visible picture suggest that the European Parliament and the EU in general are busy undermining peace and stability in the region. The goal is to create new tensions in the South Caucasus and penetrate the region. However, the EU forgets the most important point: such attempts lead to the breakdown of relations with Azerbaijan.
There is therefore no doubt that the EU and the European Parliament are a politicized organization. This also suggests that dozens of European politicians like Smith are involved in political bribery.
Consequently, we must say that such measures and hypocrisies discredit Europe itself and have a boomerang effect.
