Stefan Sherer, General Director of the AMG Litthium Electric Aphain battery manufacturer, told Guardian on Wednesday (2/7/2025) that without temporary protection the block became more and more risky in the main technology.
Currently, China cleanses about 60% of the world lithium and dominates the production of global components of the battery, having its very large influence on an important supply chain.
“Europe should be independent of China,” Sherer told the newspaper in the company’s location in Bitterfeld-Wolfen, Germany.
Although the President of the European Commission Ursula von der Lane promised to reduce dependence and increase domestic production, Sherer said that the market continues to flood in the cheaper imports of China, from steel to all batteries.
