The investigation into the serious traffic accident that took place in Ujar in November 2020 and led to the death of Rashad Hasanov has now been concluded.

According to information obtained by “Qafqazinfo”, accused in the case are Mukhtar Mukhtarov, born in 1981, former head of the Deposit Guarantee Fund, as well as former head of the Bank’s Restructuring Working Group, which is in the process of liquidation of the fund.

It turned out that M. Mukhtarov left Baku on business in the car of the institution where he worked. Also in the vehicle were Rashad Hasanov, deputy director of one of the institution’s departments, and two other officials. They suffered an accident at kilometer 217 of the Baku-Kazakhstan highway, in the area of ​​the Mususlü village of Ujar. Thus, the Nissan Sunny service car driven by Mukhtar Mukhtarov collided with the KamAZ truck. As a result, one of the vehicle’s passengers, Rashad Hasanov, died. Two more people were injured.

After a long preliminary and judicial investigation, the Ujar District Court issued a ruling on the criminal case opened in relation to the incident. During the trial it became clear that reconciliation had not been achieved between the accused and R. Hasanov’s family.

In court it was stated that since Rashad Hasanov had life insurance, only 282,619 manats of the insurance were officially paid to his family after the accident.

It was also known that Rashad Hasanov’s father, Muzaffar Hasanov, complained to various government agencies about Mukhtar Mukhtarov. During the meeting with Mukhtarov, he said that he would file a complaint if he did not pay 200,000 manats. The deceased’s father offered the accused official to pay 80,000 manats in cash and the remaining 120,000 manats at 700 manats per month, and to sign a contract for this purpose. He said he would arrest me and the other 2 people who were there. in the car.”

In the judicial process it was determined that M. Hasanov filed a civil lawsuit in the amount of 919 thousand manats against M. Mukhtarov for material and moral damages.

According to the ruling of the Ujar District Court, Mukhtar Mukhtarov was found guilty under article 263.2 of the Criminal Code. He was sentenced to 5 years in prison. Additionally, the right to drive is restricted for 3 years. It is noted that he will serve his sentence in a police station-type institution.

A civil lawsuit worth 919,000 manats was pending due to lack of documents.
