The father of the martyred lieutenant colonel died

On October 19, Tahir Akhundov, the father of the martyr Lieutenant Colonel Sanan Akhundov, a participant in the “April battles” of 2016, died.

Modern.az reports that the deceased Tahir Akhundov was sent to his final resting place at the “Jerjiz Prophet” cemetery located in the Beylagan district.

It should be noted that the martyr Lieutenant Colonel Sanan Akhundov was also buried in the same cemetery. According to the will of the late Tahir Akhundov, he was buried next to his son.

Sanan Akhundov was the only son in the family. He served as sector manager of the Information Department of the Ministry of Defense. Although he was the only son in the family, he refused his position and voluntarily went to the front.

Sanan Tahir oghlu Akhundov was born on September 29, 1979 in Fuzuli district. In 1993, the Akhundov family was forcibly removed from Fuzuli. Sanan Akhundov graduated from secondary school number 144 in the Binagadi district of Baku in 1996 and entered the Higher Military School. In 2001 he graduated from the Higher Military School and began serving in the military unit “N” with the rank of lieutenant.

In 2007-2009 he studied at the Military Academy of the Federal Republic of Germany.

He subsequently received his second higher education at the Faculty of Law of Baku State University.

Between 2012 and 2015 he participated in various intelligence exercises in Germany. In 2012, he received military training in Türkiye.

In 2016 he resigned from his position as sector director at the Ministry of Defense and voluntarily moved to the front. He was appointed commander of the intelligence unit.

On April 18, 2016, after the “April Battles”, Sanan Akhundov was going to inspect the area in the direction of Lalatepa to find out the state of our positions, while rescuing his comrade-in-arms, Lieutenant Colonel Vugar Abdulazimov, who He was hit by a land mine and was himself seriously injured by a land mine. Although he was taken to the military hospital located in Fuzuli district, the doctors could not save our officer’s life.

The last martyr of the “April Battles”, Lieutenant Colonel Sanan Akhundov, was buried at the “Jerjiz Prophet” cemetery located in Beylagan. Sanan Akhundov was married to Najiba Akhundova, principal of secondary school number 34 in Baku. Shahid left behind a son named Tahir and a daughter named Nazrin.
