THE Spanish Basketball Federationin collaboration with the Community of Madridofficially presented this Thursday its candidacy to organize the next Eurobasket 2029.
This proposal places the capital of Spain as the sole venue for the tournament and WiZink Center as the only venue in which all matches would be played.
Under the slogans “We are for the supporters”, “We are for the players” and We are for Madrid, the FEB has confirmed through its official channels that it is in the race to host the European Championship in five years.

In this way, Spain once again presents its candidacy to become the new host of the most important continental championship, as in 2007. In this edition, the Spanish basketball team managed to place vice-champion of Europe after losing in the final. Russia by a close score of 59-60.
This final also took place at the WiZink Center, the venue which has once again become the reference for the project given its habit of hosting high-level matches. Real Madrid usually play their Euroleague and Endesa League matches there.
A big economic impact
Sources from the Spanish Basketball Federation emphasize that hosting Eurobasket 2029 would have a gigantic economic impact that would benefit the Community of Madrid.
The figures they use speak of 270 million euros. Next year’s Eurobasket will be contested by a total of 24 teams, so hosting that many teams, as well as people from the organization or media, among others, would result in a big comeback.
