“The fire extinguishers are not correct”

The weekend of Marc Marquez ended in disaster Indonesian Grand Prix. His motorcycle suffered a mechanical breakdown and finished in flames. And the pilot criticized the organization of the Mandalika circuit for the poor quality of the fire extinguishers used by the sports commissioners.

In comments reported by ‘Marca’, Márquez stressed that the fire extinguishers were “neither correct nor adequate”. “Fire extinguishers must be adequate or state-of-the-art, otherwise you will destroy the motorcycle”» deplores the eight-time motorcycle world champion.

“It was sudden. In fact, on that lap I was on my personal fastest lap. I had thought about clicking to go up a risk point and catch up with those ahead of me and on that lap the engine was perfect change of pace that I had in mind,” he says.

“It’s a shame for the team because for a private team it’s a very significant cost”Marc continues his protest.

Gresini was unable to recover anything from the bike: “There was a loud noise and the engine stopped. When I saw the white smoke, I checked and it was too bad because the fire extinguishers they have here are not the right ones. and the bike was completely damaged… everything, especially the brakes.”

The problem with Marc’s bike came on lap twelve, with Marc coming back. Its engine simply exploded and ended up in flames. And those fire extinguishers meant Gresini couldn’t recover anything from the bike.

“I could have been fifth…”

Márquez had to come back into the race. And he aspired to reach fifth place. “I think I could have been fifth. I always shoot a little low. And then at the end of the race, you never know, but a fifth place felt good for us…”, declared the Cervera driver. But the fire prevented a new feat.
