The Spanish government and the Valencian Generalitat have quantified the investment necessary to restore the road and rail network in the area affected by DANA at 2.6 billion euros. This is a preliminary assessment that was carried out during the first meeting of the Immediate Intervention Group on Infrastructure of the Government-Consell in which the Minister of Transport and Sustainable Mobility, Óscar Puente, as well as the Minister of Environment, Infrastructure and Territory, Vicente. At the same meeting it was agreed to develop a comprehensive emergency plan to coordinate the recovery of mobility and basic infrastructure in the province of Valencia in order to mitigate the serious damage caused by the DANA floods. In the coming days, Minister Óscar Puente will travel to Valencia to continue negotiations and work on the restoration of road and rail infrastructure, as indicated by the Ministry of Transport in a press release.
It was also agreed to jointly carry out a transport plan to offer an alternative mobility until the main entry and exit routes from Valencia and the municipalities affected by the floods can be re-established.
