The first freight train will depart from the Russian city of Ulyanovsk to Azerbaijan

At the end of September, a direct freight train will run for the first time on the route Ulyanovsk (Russia) – Baku (Azerbaijan) – Astara (Iran).

Oku.Az According to TASS, Ulyanovsk Region Governor Alexey Russkikh made this statement at a meeting of the regional headquarters for comprehensive development.

According to the governor, the first freight train of the Ulyanovsk-Baku-Astara block will depart at the end of September within the framework of the Volga-Middle Caspian-Persian Gulf corridor.

The train consists of at least 70 different modified cars, including closed tank cars and bunker-type cars.

Each train is designed to transport 3.5 thousand tons of various products: products of the agro-industrial complex and wood processing, as well as industrial products.

Russkikh added that the possibility of reloading the train with goods produced in Azerbaijan, Iran and neighbouring countries is being considered.

“I would like to note that the export train will be the first train to run in this direction since the Soviet Union,” the head of the province stressed.

It should be noted that the launch of the train is the result of agreements with Azerbaijani Prime Minister Ali Asadov, as well as the coordinated work of the Russian and Azerbaijani railway institutions, the support of the Russian Ministry of Industry and Trade and other institutions.
