Jakarta – Iwan Setiawan, Director of the Indonesian Political Overronsight (IPR), said it was too excessive if he mentioned a draft law in the DPR (BILL) and a debate that is controlled by one or two people. According to him, the debate on the ratification of the current bill always included the government and the 8 factions in the DPR.
“I am sure that the DPR mechanism (making the law) will last due to one or two people,” Iwan said in a statement on Monday (31.03.2025).
Iwan said one or two people did not decide to produce or form the law in the DPR in the short term. According to him, the formation of laws in the DPR must go through several stages until it is finally transmitted to the law.
“The initial phase, the initiative. The discussion of the law begins with government, DPR or community initiatives. In addition, the Government Act (Ruu) or DPR submits a bill to the DPR and is included in the national legislation program or Prolegna,” he explained.
Iwan then said, the next stage was the debate and the DPR management would name the relevant committee or the legislative body to discuss the draft law. After that, a work committee is formed to submit to the public’s aspirations for the bill.
