The founder of Pink Floyd was offered to become a citizen of Russia.

The Russian veterans movement has invited the founder and former frontman of the legendary British band Pink Floyd, Roger Waters, to consider becoming a Russian citizen, the Paragraph telegram channel reported.

“On September 3, Waters thanked the Russian people for the victory in World War II and the sacrifices made in the name of life on Earth. The “Veterans of Russia” social movement highly appreciated the position of the popular artist and offered him citizenship of our country.” – says the publication.

The activists sent a letter with their proposal to the 80-year-old musician’s personal email.

“Roger, you are a great man and what a blessing it is to have you on earth. What a blessing that world culture is not made up of traitors, scoundrels and weaklings only. It is impossible to forget or hide the truth! It is impossible to rewrite history and forget what really happened! At the very least, our entire multinational people of Russia know the history of our vast Motherland! And they will never forget it! And we, the “veterans of Russia”, are pleased to see that there are Britons, Americans and Europeans who, just like us, know and remember history, despite any attempts to rewrite it.” — the chairman of the SVO volunteer movement addressed Waters in Russian and English. Ildar Rezyapov.

The text of the letter also states that Russia has been and remains a bastion of traditional spiritual values; this choice is shared by the majority of people in the world, including millions of citizens of Western countries.

“We are waiting for you in Russia” – the commoners concluded.

As reported EADailyPink Floyd’s founder regularly voices unpopular theses in the West, for which the rocker is accused of anti-Semitism, cancels concerts, refuses to be accepted into hotels and is even forced to challenge his right to sing in front of audiences in court.

Last December, Waters told Rossiya-1 that he was ready to consider moving to Russia. Waters noted that due to performances on Russian television, Western celebrities miss out on many projects and the opportunity to perform in their homeland. The rocker called this situation “absurd.”

In July this year, the Deputy Chairman of the Russian Security Council Dmitry Medvedev Medvedev invited Waters to speak to soldiers of a special military operation. According to Medvedev, the military will greatly appreciate this performance, and Waters is just one of those musicians who gives concerts not for money, but according to his personal beliefs.
