We all learn about war in different ways. Someone from the stories of veterans, someone from films, someone from the fate of martyrs, someone from the books of writers… The theme of war and victory always occupies an important place in literature. Writers and poets often refer to this period in history. Regardless of the form and genre, all works are united by the “memory of the heart”, the desire to tell the truth about the war, to show the essence of heroism.
The First and Second Patriotic Wars have great importance in the history of Azerbaijan. Literature has been written about both wars. Examples of art dedicated to the Second Patriotic War, the 44-Day War and our Great Victory are also created. Although sometimes one hears the complaint that the works are written less or are not promoted.
November 8, Victory Day, on the eve of the fourth anniversary of Victory, we were interested in works written on the theme of war and victory.
“Caspian” The newspaper published an article on the subject.
A certain period of time must pass.
According to publicist and translator Nariman Abdulrahmanli, before such global events can be transferred to literature and become a literary fact, a certain time must pass: “This is one of the laws of literature. Tolstoy’s novel “War and Peace ” was not written suddenly… how many years after the war of 1812 During World War II, the best works of our writers were written after the war must pass Dozens of books and documentaries about the martyrs. will continue from this point N. Abdülrahmanli believes that there is a certain promotion of written works, but for this to become a total promotion an institution is necessary to direct the process: “Probably, this process can be carried out by the Writers’ Union and the Institute of Literature, growth is expected.”
“Writers are criticized, why don’t they write?”
Playwright Firuz Mustafa complains about the low reading culture: “In addition to written works, we also have plays on the theme of war and victory. Plays that I wrote on this theme have also been performed. They are also celebrated meetings on this topic at the Writers’ Union.” The writer says that his play “Waltz in the Autumn Forest” won first place in the competition organized by the Ministry of Culture a few years ago: “Although the Ministry recommended its performance in theaters, no theater has paid attention to it. For the children, “The Protectors of the Sun” and “Chasing the Darkness” were published in the book prepared according to the decision of the Ministry of Science and Education. These works tell what happened to schoolchildren who lived in the border area during the war. the days of victory. F. Mustafa complains that the relevant institutions do not pay enough attention to works written on the topic of the Patriotic War: “They blame the writers, why don’t they write? But relevant organizations should pay attention to projection and staging. of written works. In the Soviet era, films were made from written works. Are writers weak now? The technical possibilities have increased. If there is no partisanship, there will be people who want to make movies. the people who read, film and promote, the main problems are left out.”
The Shusha-Karabakh separation bridge was in our poetry
According to critic Vagif Yusifli, Azerbaijani poetry encompasses the processes that develop in the country at each stage of literature. “Poetry is the most sensitive point of literature. In our poetry there was the Shusha-Karabakh bridge of separation and longing. The time has come to cross that bridge and put an end to this longing: 44 days were enough to put an end to all the separations. Of course, the poetry did not remain silent, there was occasional pessimism in it. Although the circumstances were dark, on the other hand, there were glimpses of hope for victory. Today the optimistic mood that is born from the victory. , Shusha is becoming the main character of our poem.” The critic says that he presented the book “Karabakh: in poetry and prose” to the publisher: “In this book I wrote about the works that reacted to those processes. You cannot find a poet who does not write about these events.”
The promotion of works is weak
“It would be an exaggeration to say that masterpieces have been created on this topic,” says Asad Jahangir, president of the AYB Center for Literary Translation and Literary Relations in his poem “The History of Azerbaijan, the Events of the Patriotic Era.” Wars to this day have found their artistic solution in the field of dramaturgy, the play “Little Men” by Ilgar Fahmin is dedicated to the heroism of the young people who sacrificed their lives in the Karabakh war. A film can be made based on the story of Etibar Muradkhanli’s capture of Shusha. The work “The Father of the Martyr” is dedicated to the heroism of the people of Karabakh. Both works are dedicated to the victory of Karabakh. There are many writers who have tried their luck in Karabakh. It seems to me that the best works will be written by the writers of the future who are still living their childhood. “The media, literary critics and certain institutions should participate in the promotion of these works.”
