The Minister of Culture of the Xunta de Galicia, José López Campos, reported that the Franco family proposed a “formula of agreement” of collaboration for the opening to the public of the Casa Cornide in La Coruña – to which they are obliged because it is an Asset of Cultural Interest (BIC) – after which the Galician Government opened a disciplinary file for 3,000 euros due to this non-compliance.
To questions from the A Coruña press, López Campos recalled that an administrative procedure is open for which the family has been requested when the property opens at fixed timesbut “no results having been obtained”, a file of ongoing sanctions was opened, to which the Francos appealed in order to “clarify certain aspects” of the resolution.
Thus, he explained having opened the “possibility” of a “collaboration formula” in the opening system, a question to which the technicians of the administration are analyzing to answer, emphasizing that “it is the owners who must establish a calendar. minimum opening”.
López Campos stressed that the current file “will be finalized” and that, “if the family does not respect its obligation”, the Xunta “will sanction” the owners “until an ordinary and normal opening is carried out as planned by legislation. In addition, he insisted that “owners have a legal responsibility: to facilitate openings at certain times”.
Meanwhile, the consistory of Herculino maintains, in turn, the procedures for recover the building for municipal heritage. Its property is currently owned by the Franco family.
