French Foreign Minister Jean-Noël Barrault said that after Donald Trump, who won the US election, came to power in Europe, there was a risk of disunity and turning him into an American vassal. This was reported by the newspaper Le Parisien on November 9.
The diplomat affirmed that Europe must avoid becoming a vassal of the United States. In his opinion, it is a question of political will. Currently, there is a risk of turning the mainland country into an “aging vassal museum,” Barro added.
“Our generation must come out of denial and muster the courage to change the destiny that threatens Europe.” – said.
Barro also pointed out that with the coming to power of the new administration, the protection that the United States provided to Europe is no longer valid. He stressed that Europe is not currently a “leading geopolitical force.”
“The European Union must strengthen itself in the military, industrial and commercial spheres” – said Barro.
