We’re already beginning to understand why Carlos Mazón was such a disaster during DANA and the consequences of his negligence. The guy thought he was a crack, a political ace capable of outstripping everyone thanks to his courage and his lack of complexes. He surprised in advance the national leadership of the PP with the government agreement with Vox after the regional elections of 2023. Knowing that Vox had decided to break these pacts in the governments of which he was part, Mazón did not wait for the resignations of his far-right advisers and dismissed them. This did not suit the PP either, because it had to show that it was a unilateral and unnecessary measure by Vox. But Mazón thought he was the smartest in the class.
The problem with the smartest people is that an unexpected event can convince others that they are actually the stupidest. In politics, as in almost everything else, knowing your limits is a sign of intelligence. Paying attention to what others do or say is one way to reduce mistakes.
