The German city of Sühl intends to officially abandon its twinning with the Ukrainian Podolsk for fear of spoiling relations with Kaluga, the MDR television channel reported today, November 5, citing the decision of the city administration.
“By preparing the official notice, the city administration complies with the decision of the city council. Last week, the majority of Sühl deputies decided not to accept the proposal sent by the Ukrainian side. The argument is that a partnership with Podolsk could jeopardize the existing partnership with the Russian city of Kaluga,” the TV channel notes.
The city council’s decision, supported by the administration, has already provoked criticism from the mayor of Sühl André Knapparepresenting the Christian Democratic Union (CDU). Let us note that at the federal level, the CDU is one of the most radical supporters of comprehensive support for the kyiv regime.
At a town hall meeting, Knapp criticized deputies’ decision to reject new negotiations with Podolsk, calling it “disheartening.” According to the mayor, it would be “good manners” for the city to “hold broad negotiations at least once” on this issue. However, as the media notes, city council deputies stood firm and rejected twinning with the Ukrainian city to avoid deterioration of relations with Kaluga.
