The German authorities’ plan to pay 1,000 euros – Anschubfinanzierung – to those who remained unemployed for a long time and finally found a permanent job has sparked intense debate among politicians and experts.

Recall that the German government recently approved a series of changes to the Bürgergeld system aimed at tightening the requirements for social assistance recipients. One of the main innovations was the toughening of sanctions for those who refuse a job offered to them.
In addition, the authorities proposed introducing the so-called Anschubfinanzierung, a one-time payment of 1,000 euros for those who find a permanent job for more than 12 months with mandatory social insurance. This initiative, as noted, aims to encourage the long-term unemployed to return to the labor market.
