The government allocates 30 million to Cunext Copper for its green copper plant in Cordoba

He Ministry of Industry and Tourism approved this Monday new provisional resolutions of the line 1 of the Loss for industrial decarbonizationfor a total of 96.3 million euros, which will mean a reduction of more than 1.2 million tonnes of carbon dioxide per year.

Among the selected projects is that of Cunext Copper Industries, which will receive 30 million for the production of green copper in its factory in Córdoba, capital, as announced by the head of Industry, Jordi Hereu, during his speech at the opening of the New Economy Week of Barcelona, ​​a forum organized in the Franca Zone of Ciudad Condal from October 7 to 10.

With this new resolution “we continue to encourage businesses to invest in sustainable solutions with the aim of respecting climate commitments and at the same time creating new business opportunities in green sectors”, said Hereu. In addition to those announced, the Industry has already granted aid – between grants and loans – of an amount of 323 million euros of Decarbonization loss between final and provisional resolutions.

It should be remembered, on the other hand, that last week we learned that Cunext Copper had signed an extension of the green and sustainable syndicated loan, the financing reaching a total amount close to 35 million euros, which will be used to expand its facilities in Cordoba for the manufacture of anodes from secondary copper.

This expansion will involve an increase in the production of 40,000 tonnes per year. The loan was taken out by the Official Credit Institute (ICO), Caja Rural de Navarra and EBN Banco.

Finally, in mid-September, the Governing Council of the Junta de Andalucía approved another aid of 5.3 million also for Cunext Copper to support the same investment project in Cordoba, amounting to 47.96 million euros, and which focuses on copper processing, according to data provided at the time by the Andalusian government .
